Sainsbury's forecourts sit alongside its larger stores, which puts the estate's centre of gravity in London, the South East and the Midlands. In much of the South it is one of the few genuinely cheap options within a short drive, because the supermarket alternatives are thinner on the ground there than they are in the North.
Nectar is the loyalty layer, and Sainsbury's has periodically run Nectar Prices promotions on fuel that cut a few pence for cardholders. As with Clubcard, the headline price on the sign is not quite the price a regular customer pays.
